Sunday in Review

Another great Sunday at SonRise.  The 8:30 service was a little light, but the 10:30 was packed!  Daryl did a great job communicating the Lordship of Jesus.  Basically he said:

  • People like the baby Jesus, people even like the Jesus who died on the cross for them, but we have a hard time accepting Jesus as Lord.
  • If I make his King of my life; what happens to what I want?
  • Luke 2:11 – “Today in the Town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord

Those of us who claim to follow Jesus must follow who he truly is, not only the “parts we like”.  The caricature that the movie Talladega Nights portrays in discussing the baby Jesus does have some foundation in Christian practice (and it’s funny). All to often, we truthfully are followers of Christ only in ways that are convenient or likable to us. The Lordship of Jesus over our lives may not be fun, but it is in fact true and good.
