the internet and sermonizing

After five hours in the office without internet, I had to escape. I am in the process of writing my sermon for Sunday and I rely heavily on the internet for research.  I use Bible Gateway like its the air I breathe. You can look in tons of translations and do specific word searches. I have Young’s Concordance, but Bible Gateway allows searching so quickly I hardly ever use it anymore.  I find the topic search less valuable than the keyword search.

In addition to that website, I read tons of blogs daily. I follow dozens of twitter feeds that people post on subjects that I find interesting and/or useful. I beg, borrow, and steal. I believe God uses all of this to help me communicate his word in a way that allows people to connect.

I am working to improve my study time to make it more effective and efficient. The way I currently do it, perhaps I rely too heavily on my laptop and wireless connection. I don’t know if this will always be my method, but that’s how I’m doing it now.
