thoughts on Fantasy Football

For several years, I was opposed to Fantasy Football on the grounds that I see it as another step in the direction of bringing football as a sport to its demise.  I think it is conflicting to want two different players on opposing teams to do well.  It’s like trying to hold the north end of two magnets together: it can be done, it’s just weird.

However, since few people share my viewpoint, I found that when spending time with groups of guys, I had very little to contribute to the conversation since I did not participate in fantasy football.  After, too many boring conversations that I could not contribute to, or understand, I started fantasy football two years ago.

This is my third season, and I still dislike fantasy football. But, I play so that I can have some time to connect with a dozen other folks that I get to spend too little time with.

Tonight, I am setting my player orders for our auction draft on Saturday. My sister in law will be drafting in my absence so i can spend the long weekend with my parents who are in town.

She’ll probably be better at it than me anyway.
