Sunday Recap for August 1, 2010

We wrapped up our sermon series “Green Card” this week. It was a great series looking at what the Bible teaches us about our citizenship in God’s Kingdom.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get to record it this week so it won’t be available on podcast.  But allow me to summarize:

Because of Jesus, we have been given citizenship in God’s Kingdom. Formerly we were strangers and foreigners, separated from God by our sin, but Jesus is the sacrifice for our sin and now we have been made right with God. We are now pure, holy, noble, and good in the eyes of God because of what Jesus has done for us when we could do nothing about our sin ourselves. God has made us citizens in his Kingdom and according to 2 Corinthians 5 we are now ambassadors of this Kingdom. Our task as ambassadors is to proclaim the message of reconciliation: God made Jesus our sin, so that we could be his righteousness. What an amazing truth!
