Sunday Recap for September 12, 2010

It was a dreary and rainy morning, but we still had a great service at SonRise West OC. We had a few guests come back and that always makes for an exciting morning. I announced today that we intend to add a 9:00 service by the first week of November. This will allow an extra service time so that those who serve can still attend church and it will also allow guests an option to plan their visit.

We finished our series “In Tents” today talking with the sermon entitled “Roughing It”.  Christianity isn’t so much about our comfort as it is about following Christ where he wants to take us. When God Almighty comes to dwell within us, he will not allow us to be content with being in the same place we’ve always been. Like the people of Israel redeemed from Egypt, God has a place he wants to take us where he can use us to impact the nations and pour his blessings out upon us.  Between here and there often lies trial and discomfort. We cannot be afraid to follow God where he is taking us even if we know we will face discomfort. This is the God who loved us while we were his enemies and sent his Son to die so that we might have eternal life. This same God will be with us through the trial and discomfort while he is leading us to the place he wants to take us. Don’t be afraid or love comfort more than Christ, follow him!

You should be able to listen to the sermon here in a couple of days.
