Africa’s size in perspective

I had never really thought about how MASSIVE the continent of Africa is until I read this article.  It makes the multiple issues that I hear about regularly including everything from AIDS to clean water become that much more important after seeing this. The article on the map is about immappancy which is clearly a humorous word, and I clearly have, since Africa is much larger than I had realized. Unfortunately, this is yet another sign of my lack of concern (even if it is unconscious it is still a problem) for the rest of the world since I sit fat and happy in America. Also, I believe that if the nations that are on the continent could ever rise to the level of development and prosperity that the western world has seen, they would cast a shadow of influence over it.

You can download the map here.
